FFP2 Maksen and your protection

Would you like to buy a mask? Nowadays, safe and high quality masks are very necessary, but FPP masks contains all the qualities you want in an ideal face mask. FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3 are different classes of respirators; they provide different levels of protection to the wearer. Simply put, the higher the protection factor, the better the reduction in airborne contaminants. FFP3 offers the highest level of protection for the wearer. No respirator is 100% efficient because there is leakage at the face seal, at the valve (if applicable), and through the filter penetration. Therefore, it is important to perform a proper fit test and be clean shaven to aid in fit.

These types are mainly used in industry for protection against airborne particles. They should be CE marked to show that the design has been tested to a recognised standard. They must also be marked with this standard. For disposable respirators this is the EN 149: 2001 standard. The additional markings, such as FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3, indicate the level of protection available when used correctly. With regard to the COVID-19 coronavirus, the FFP3 mask offers the best protection, although there is no guarantee that it will protect you.

FFP2 – fine dust and aerosols

Since fine dust and aerosols are among the most dangerous airborne risks to human health in the workplace, and since they are almost always invisible in the air we breathe, respirators or filtering face masks provide protection in three different classes, depending on the hazard and the level of protection. Not only are there different levels of protection, but there are also different types of FFP masks, such as cup-shaped or folded and with or without a valve. It is very important that you consult with a trained health and safety advisor when determining the most appropriate PPE for your application. The APF provided by the mask should bring the concentration of the hazard to a level below the WEL. Example: Hazardous substance A is present in the air at a concentration of 70 mg/m3 , but the MAK value is 10 mg/m3. Therefore, a mask with an APF greater than 7 is required.
